Prince Harry Faces Deportation, and Meghan Markle May Be to Blame

It’s an open secret that Prince Harry is America’s most famous immigrant. From the moment Harry was born, he was always a heartbeat away from becoming the King of England if anything should ever happen to Prince William, the first-born heir. But everything changed once Harry fell in love with Meghan Markle, a television celebrity from America.

Meghan never quite fit into the Royal Family, and it didn’t take long for her and Prince Harry to announce they were stepping back from most royal responsibilities and fleeing the country. “Megxit” shocked the royals and the entire world, but when the smoke cleared, it looked like Harry and Meghan were going to live happily ever after in America.

Now, however, Prince Harry has gotten a little too candid in his autobiography about his love of drugs, and it might be enough for America to strip Harry of his visa. What did Harry say, though, and how is all of this possibly Meghan Markle’s fault? Keep reading to discover the answer!

Harry tells a little too much in his autobiography

Recently, Harry released his autobiography, Spare. And he made it clear before releasing it that this book was going to drop a lot of major revelations about both his own life and the rest of the Royal Family. And he actually lived up to his promises to spill some major tea, but now it looks like this royal rebel might have gone a bit too far.

As reported by the New York Post, Harry admitted that after Princess Diana’s death, he “resorted to drinking heavily.  Because I wanted to numb the feeling, or I wanted to distract myself from how … whatever I was thinking. And I would, you know, resort to drugs as well.”

The drugs in question include marijuana and cocaine, and honestly, it’s difficult for most people to judge a grieving teen for resorting to alcohol and drugs. However, what really raised our eyebrows was that Harry went out of his way to praise psychedelics, and he openly spoke about using such drugs into his adulthood.

Harry’s shocking claims about psychedelics

It’s one thing for grieving children to use drugs like marijuana or even cocaine. But Harry went on to admit in the book how much he fell in love with psychedelic drugs and made them a regular part of his adult life. As Page Six reports, Harry said such drugs “brought me a sense of relaxation, relief, comfort, a lightness that I managed to hold back for a period of time.”

Continuing, he said, “I started doing it recreationally and then started to realize how good it was for me. I would say it is one of the fundamental parts of my life that changed me and helped me deal with the traumas and the pains of the past.”

It’s very surprising to hear someone of Harry’s stature admit that drugs became a fundamental part of his life. Unfortunately, this is in line with his past history of drug abuse.

Harry’s previous history of drug abuse

While Harry’s admissions are shocking, they are not as shocking as they otherwise might have been. And that’s because we already knew a bit about his struggles with alcohol and other substances.

For example, King Charles actually sent Prince Harry to drug rehab when Harry was only 17 years old. This was due to Charles’ concerns over Harry’s admitted use of marijuana. But his partying ways continued well into adulthood. As The Mirror reports, Harry spent his twenties throwing raucous parties in places like Las Vegas. Back in the day, scandalous pictures emerged of naked parties where only the prince’s royal hands were covering his…ahem…royal jewels.

These days, Harry doesn’t party as he did as a young man. Nonetheless, being a little too open about his love of drugs may actually be enough to cause him to lose his visa.

The legal trouble Harry could face over his drug use

Right now, everyone has one big, burning question: could Harry lose his visa due to his discussions of drug use? Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer because some of our best legal minds can’t agree on the likelihood of the prince facing any legal trouble.

For example, as Page Six reports, former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani thinks Harry has stepped into some royal trouble: “An admission of drug use is usually grounds for inadmissibility,” he said. “That means Prince Harry’s visa should have been denied or revoked because he admitted to using cocaine, mushrooms and other drugs.”

However, veteran celebrity attorney James Leonard sees things differently. “Absent any criminal charge related to drugs or alcohol or any finding by a judicial authority that Prince Harry is a habitual drug user, which he clearly is not,” he said, “I don’t see any issue with the disclosures in his memoir regarding recreational experimentation with drugs.”

In addition to pointing out that even the adult drug use was more of a youthful indiscretion, Leonard also said the quiet part out loud: “You’ve got to give them something that would trigger it, and revealing it in a book, that you experimented with drugs when you were a young man, I don’t think gets you there.” In other words, the feds aren’t going to go after everyone that simply admitted to previous drug use, and they wouldn’t do so unless the person in question was engaging in other shady activity (which doesn’t exactly apply to the prince).

Meghan Markle: did she hang her husband out to dry?

In reality, it’s unlikely that Harry will lose his visa status. But all of this drama over it has people asking the obvious question: why didn’t Meghan Markle give Harry a heads up that this could happen?

Royal biographer and expert Angela Levin said as much in an interview with GB News. “I don’t understand why his wife didn’t warn him,” she said. “He talked to her about everything he was going to say. She is in charge as we both know.”

Continuing to spit fire, Levin pointed out that Meghan “didn’t say ‘be careful, because if you talk too much about the drugs, you might be in trouble,’” leaving the biographer “concerned” and asking “why she left him alone on this.”

It’s possible that Meghan (no stranger to partying in her youth) didn’t think it would be a big deal. Of course, it’s also possible that she may have been setting Harry up, though we dare not speculate what she would gain by getting her husband kicked out of the country.
