Trump’s defenders might say Wolff simply made this up. However, as People reports, Trump himself told Howard Stern in 2005 (the same year he married Melania) that “I’ll supply funds and she’ll take care of the kids. It’s not like I’m gonna be walking the kids down Central Park.” Overall, it sounds like Barron has grown up with a father who is largely checked out of fatherhood.

Questions about whether Donald Trump is his real dad
Over the years, some people have publicly made jokes about whether Donald Trump is even Barron’s real dad or not. The comedian John Henson did this before on Twitter, and it resulted in Melania’s Chief of Staff issuing a statement (as reported by People) about how sad it is that “we continue to see inappropriate and insensitive comments about the president’s son.”
Unfortunately, Donald Trump ended up making this speculation about Barron’s paternity much worse. As Newsweek reports, Trump said in 2019 “that’s how the First Lady got involved. She’s got a son — together — that is a — a beautiful young man.” The phrasing made it sound like he thought of Barron as only Melania’s son.
One year later, Trump (as reported by Express) said, “Ivanka is here, and my sons, and my whole family. And that includes Barron. He’s up there, he’s a young boy.” This could be (and most likely is) the result of speaking off the cuff, but Donald Trump repeatedly making it sound like Barron isn’t his son probably isn’t doing much for the kid’s mental health or overall happiness.
Dealing with a murderous stalker

According to The New York Post, Barron had to deal with a dangerous stalker after the family moved to Florida. The woman’s name is Tracy Marie Fiorenza, and she sent utterly unhinged emails to Barron’s headmaster that made claims such as “I will shoot Donald Trump Sr AND Barron Trump straight in the face at any opportunity I get!” and “I am going to slam a bullet in Baron (sic) Trump’s head with his father IN SELF DEFENSE!”
At one point, this would-be assassin even showed up at Barron’s school trying to find him, and she might very well have made good on her threats if she did. Fortunately, the police arrested the woman before she could cause any harm. Still, this incident proves that as much as Barron’s wealth and fame have made his life easier, they have also made him a target in the eyes of his father’s political enemies.

Fallout from the Stormy Daniels drama
For the most part, Donald and Melania Trump have tried to shield Barron from their own drama. However, there is one drama that the kid just can’t avoid, and that’s all of the salacious allegations that have come out about his father and the porn star Stormy Daniels.
The allegations include some wild details like Donald Trump having an affair with a porn star pretty much right after Barron was born. Between the crazy details coming out in the press and how much this news has been negatively affecting Melania (who Barron remains very close to), it’s easy to see why this has been a constant drag on the child’s spirits.
