Jennifer Lopez’s mom Guadalupe Rodriguez is reportedly “thrilled” her daughter is back together with ex-fiancé Ben Affleck after their original relationship ended 17 years ago.
“In the past, Jennifer’s mom and Ben were very close,” a source told People. “Guadalupe loved Ben. She was sad when they couldn’t work things out years ago. She is thrilled that they are back together now.”
And the feeling is mutual. Affleck likes Rodriguez so much he gave her a small role in an undisclosed project he’s directing. The 48-year-old star was spotted filming in Las Vegas last week with Rodriguez on set, People reported. “Lupe was there to film a fun cameo,” another insider told the outlet.
So, how does Lopez, 51, feel about her mom bonding with her beau?
“Jennifer loves that Ben and Guadalupe hung out in Las Vegas. They both love gambling and had fun together at the Wynn hotel,” the first source said. They also noted, “Jennifer is very close with her mom. It’s very important to her that the person she is with gets along with her mom.”
While Affleck’s love of gambling is well-known, Rodriguez, 75, is no newbie to the hobby. Back when Lopez was still engaged to Affleck, her mom won $2.4 million playing slots at The Borgata Casino in Atlantic City. Lopez told the story on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in 2015.
With Rodriguez’s luck at the slots, perhaps it was no coincidence she and Affleck were photographed on set for Affleck’s movie in front of slot machines at the Wynn Las Vegas.
