Kate Middleton’s Exes: What Are They Now?

Like her sister-in-law (and, if rumors are to be believed, rival) Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton got to live out every little girl’s fairy tale dream. That’s because Kate married a charming prince, making her part of the Royal Family. And not just any prince: William is the future King of England, meaning that Kate will one day be crowned as queen!

Despite occasional rumors of divorce from the tabloids, Kate seems to be genuinely enjoying living happily ever after with William. But before (and in one case, even after!) she started dating the future King, she had other boyfriends. And that led us to ask the big question: who are all these exes, and what are they up to now?

If you’re curious, we’ve got you covered. Keep reading to discover where Kate Middleton’s exes are now!

Harry Blakelock: successful businessman

He’s not exactly a household name, but Harry Blakelock has his own special place in Royal Family history. You see, he became the first great love of Kate Middleton’s life. The two met at boarding school, where he was the captain of the hockey team. Kate reportedly took it very hard when the two of them broke up: one insider told the Sun that “She spoke about [Blakelock] all the time, and he seemed to have messed her around quite a bit. He seemed to have blown hot and cold with her when they were at school, and she was always talking about how she could get him back,”

By all accounts, Kate and Blakelock didn’t stay in touch after they broke up. However, he later ended up marrying (ironically enough) one of Kate’s friends from her boarding school days. And while he didn’t rise as far in society as Kate, Blakelock really landed on his feet: he’s been working for Lockton Companies in London since 2014, and he made partner back in 2020. There, he helps companies and investors minimize risks and maximize profits.

Willem Marx: journalist extraordinaire

While he wasn’t one of her great loves or anything, Willem Marx played a fairly major role in young Kate Middleton’s life. They met as teenagers while at boarding school and had a lot of fun together. Eventually, though, the pair realized that having fun was all they were doing and that they didn’t have any kind of real romantic future together. That may have been a blessing in disguise, though: the two were able to remain friends after parting ways, and Willem even received a coveted invite to Kate’s wedding in 2011.

What has he been up to since splitting up with the future Queen? First off, he got married to Johanna Botta in 2014, and the two are raising an absolutely adorable kiddo together. They also both work in the media. Marx, for example, has been working for NBC News as a journalist, based on years of reporting, he seems to be very good at his job!

Rupert Finch: lawyer and family friend

The last real relationship that Kate Middleton had before she began dating Prince William was with a man named Rupert Finch. It wasn’t a very long relationship, though: the two met while attending the University of St. Andrews and only dated very briefly, in part because Finch was so focused on becoming a lawyer. They were on quite friendly terms when they split up, and Finch was later invited to William and Kate’s 2011 wedding.

Speaking of marriage, Rupert Finch later married Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs, the daughter of the Marquess of Reading. She is the founder of Beulah London, which Kate is reportedly very fond of. They are raising three children together, and Finch helps provide for them with the career of his dreams. That’s right: he eventually became a lawyer and currently works for Johnson Matthey.

Henry Ropner: data collection guru

Henry Ropner is something of an anomaly in Kate Middleton’s love life. You see, he’s the one guy she dated after things got serious with Prince William! How did that happen, exactly? Before they got married, William and Kate took a break from each other in 2007. Instead of staying single, Kate caused a minor scandal by temporarily moving on and dating Henry Ropner, the wealthy son of Sir John Ropner.

Obviously, they didn’t stay together long: Kate and William patched things up, eventually marrying and raising three children together. As for Ropner, he married Sir John Ropner, and the two are currently raising four children of their very own. He also strayed away from the family shipping business and became the director of a Leeds-based data collection company named eviFile back in March 2021.
