Some movie fans like to head to the theater to see onscreen battles between characters like Batman and Superman, or maybe Godzilla and King Kong. For fans of the Royal Family, however, there is only one grudge match that matters: Kate Middleton vs. Meghan Markle. These two have had bad blood between them for years, and it all goes back to a disagreement they had over what Princess Charlotte (Kate’s daughter) would wear to Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry.
More details have emerged about this tiff over the years, and defenders of each woman have argued over who was right about Charlotte’s dress. It seemed like the matter would never be settled, but recently, new photos have emerged on social media that seem to prove Kate was right all along.

How the feud between Kate and Meghan began
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have had a bitter feud for many years. So long, in fact, that it’s difficult for some royal aficionados to even remember how it all started. But it all began with something that should have brought these women together: the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
Kate’s daughter, Charlotte, was going to be one of Meghan’s bridesmaids, but the two women disagreed about the gown the young girl was supposed to wear. In short, the gown didn’t fit well, and Kate wanted to have all the bridesmaids’ dresses redone. Meanwhile, Meghan thought the matter could be fixed by simply having Charlotte’s dress tailored.
That may sound simple, but the two ladies hashed the matter out over increasingly frosty text messages. While both have been too classy to openly address their beef, the drama over Charlotte’s dress led to a feud that seemingly continues to this day.

Confusion over who was to blame
How do we know much about the feud between these two women at all? Leaks from royal insiders, of course! And those claiming to know what went down initially cast Meghan as the bad guy in her disagreement with Kate. That’s because early reports claimed that Meghan had made Kate cry when they were arguing. This made Meghan look like an American upstart who had inexplicably made her future sister-in-law (and future Queen!) cry.
However, in her infamous interview with Oprah, Meghan claimed this wasn’t how things went down. As reported by Elle, she said, “No, no, the reverse happened.” She went on to elaborate how it was actually Kate who made her cry but that the two women had mended fences. “It was a really hard week of the wedding, and she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized,” Meghan said. “And she brought me flowers and a note apologizing, and she did what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone. To just take accountability for it.”
The rivalry between these women continued
In her interview with Oprah, Meghan made it sound like there was no real feud with Kate because the older woman had apologized and both had moved on. However, things seemed to remain touchy between the women, though some insiders claimed this was more of a feud between William and Harry than Kate and Meghan. Still, neither Harry nor Meghan was invited to Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 after they stepped back from most royal responsibilities and moved to America.
Later that year, Meghan gave another bombshell interview that seemed to throw Kate and her famous family under the bus. In her interview with The Cut, Meghan complained about being unable to share family photos online without sending them to the Royal Family’s official press team. “Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?”, she asked.
The next year, Harry and Meghan were formally evicted from Frogmore Cottage, their royal residence. And tensions have reportedly increased as both these rebellious royals have spilled more tea across various interviews, podcasts, documentary series, and a memoir.

Pictures surface on social media that prove Kate right
Remember how all of this started with Kate and Meghan arguing over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress? Recently, pictures of the original dress design have surfaced on X. And judging from the pics and most users’ responses, it seems like Kate was right all along!
The gown really does look too bulky and would not have looked good on Charlotte at all. It also had a sloppy hem, and the whole matter needed to be fixed within four days for Meghan’s wedding. Kate, a veteran royal, knew fully well how the media would have a field day if her daughter looked like she didn’t know how to dress herself during this major event. Still, she was a complete class act, working with Meghan while knowing deep down what all of us now know: she was completely right about that ugly gown!
