Meghan Markle’s Exes Spill Her Biggest Secrets

When you think about Meghan Markle’s boyfriends, you probably think about Prince Harry. After all, their romance led to an extravagant royal wedding, one that changed her life forever. She was no longer “just” an actress…now, she’s the Duchess of Sussex!

But Meghan had a very rich romantic life before she ever met Harry. This includes several wildly different boyfriends and even an early marriage she would love for everyone to forget about. Obviously, Meghan doesn’t say anything about her old flames, but it turns out they’ve all had some wild things to say about her over the years.

Just what did Meghan’s exes have to say about her? Keep reading to find out!

Trevor Engelson thinks Meghan stepped all over him

Remember when we said that Meghan Markle was married before? She started dating producer Trevor Engelson in 2004, and the two were married in 2011. But once she moved to Canada to film Suits, the long distance between them really hurt the relationship. Eventually, Meghan brought things to an abrupt end by mailing Engelson back her engagement ring and wedding band. As reported by the Mirror, one source close to Meghan said that “Their split was sudden and so ruthlessly done,” and that the blindsided Engelson “felt used.”

Other details about their split come from Andrew Morton, who wrote Meghan: A Hollywood Princess. According to the Mirror, Morton wrote that Engelson “”could barely contain his anger” when he got the rings back and that he felt like “a piece of something stuck to the bottom of Meghan’s shoe.” Even Meghan’s original Maid of Honor, Ninaki Priddy, was so shocked that she completely removed herself from her former bestie’s life!

Matt Cardle thought his time with Meghan ‘amazing’

While Meghan’s ex-husband didn’t take their breakup very well, she left things on a positive note with most of her other exes. For example, Matt Cardle (the 2010 winner of The X Factor) began flirting with Meghan online back in 2015. He insisted that this was all a simple flirtation and not a full-blown relationship: as reported by the Daily Mail, he described their time together by saying “It was so little then and if not nothing now…It’s quite funny how something can be made up from nothing.”

Later, he elaborated on this with The Sun: “It was just a very weird situation—very odd. And I really don’t know how it came about,” he said. “Life’s got a course and I was not on that one. I’ve laughed about it, but it’s amazing thinking back.” That’s a very healthy way of looking at things, but their “amazing” time together didn’t keep Cardle from reportedly ghosting Meghan once things got serious with his girlfriend, Amber Hernaman.

Cory Vitiello is proud of Meghan

So far, we’ve covered two of the most important relationships in Meghan Markle’s life: her previous marriage to Trevor Engelson and her later marriage to Prince Harry. But there was one more very serious relationship before Meghan joined the Royal Family, and that was her relationship with restaurateur Cory Vitiello.

While the exact details of their time together are hard to pin down, it seems Meghan became infatuated with the man when she and the rest of the ‘Suits’ cast ate at his Toronto restaurant in 2014. She praised the man on her old blog, and they ended up moving into a three-bedroom apartment together. But it wasn’t meant to be: she reportedly ended things after meeting Prince Harry, and Page Six reports Vitiello was “relieved” by the breakup because “the final months [together] had been unpleasant”

Accordingly, he doesn’t hold any kind of real grudge against her. He has consistently refused to badmouth her to the press when given the opportunity. And when he did elaborate on their relationship, it was to tell the Daily Mail that “I’m pleased for Meghan. She’s a great girl. There is no bitterness. … Meghan’s a wonderful girl, and I’m very proud of her.”

Joshua Silverstein called Meghan courageous

Joshua Silverstein isn’t exactly a household name, though he did gain some notoriety as a pro beatboxer. But he does have one surprising claim to fame: he was the first boy that Meghan Markle ever kissed, and it was actually she who made the first move, kissing him! Afterward, they had a brief romantic relationship that never really went anywhere.

Over the years, Silverstein has actually become one of Meghan’s biggest defenders. He called her “courageous” for speaking up against the Royal Family’s “history of racism” in her infamous Oprah interview. “The fact that Meghan is going to get on TV and bravely talk about that is awesome,” he told Lorraine.

Later, he even defended Meghan against accusations she had bullied her royal staff. With a lifetime of loyalty, we have to wonder: just how good was that kiss!?
